Elizabeth Smart on being raped, Elizabeth Smart: Abstinence-only education can make rape survivors feel ‘dirty,’ ‘filthy’ (via msnbc)
Abstinence-only education, what an oxymoron.

This was such an interesting quote from Smart, it highlights how screwed up Abstinence Only and faith based sex education is. It’s troubling that she saw her virginity and being ‘pure’ being so important that even when it was forcefully taken she still felt shameful. Women who have it taken forcefully or coerced are probably the ones who feel worse about it than if you consent, because you’ve probably made a decision then that sexuality isn’t something to be ashamed of.
I remember hearing a similar analogy about band-aids - but I think I heard this when I was well past believing the religious drivel and just kind of sniggered at the idea.
I wish i could push images through mobile. Click the link for lolz. (unless your religious then maybe not so lolz)
I personally have no interest in the new Star Trek film, but this is an interesting review. Sadly the same criticism could be applied to many sci-fi films where our own gender and racial imbalance is projected into the future.

Abercrombie & Fitch Gets a Brand Readjustment #FitchTheHomeless (by gkarber)
Read the article on this at Mashable, really cool campaign idea as back-lash against the comments made by Robin Lewis.
Being an ‘aspiration’ brand is something a lot of high end products use around their marketing, there are no short of brands that want to be ‘cool’ or ‘elite’ but then they are happy for people to appropriate the branding as part of an aspiration even if they can’t afford the product itself.
A&F have certianly seen the flipside of social media marketing. I hope this idea takes off.
I don’t own any A&F myself to donate.

Ever wonder why gay kids have trouble believing “it gets better”?
This is a great info graphic - it’s true Marriage Equality isn’t a big issue for many gay people. But it is a big step forward for social change. As we can see the swing in society, as kids grow up in a society where there is equality, then hopefully these statistics will also shift.
This is an interesting step for BitTorrent. The music industry needs help to leverage the digital space and this looks like a good idea. Will be interesting to see how it progresses.
The numbers show this whole asset sale is a scam. ‘Mum and Dad’ investors aren’t buying so it will be sold off to international corporations. It’s disgusting, as tax payers they in a way already owned these now everyone will loose as profit is funneled offshore
